Plain-language terms for using this site, sending a booking request, and leaving a review.

1. Who we are

Specialised Fire Solutions ("SFS", "we", "us") services, repairs and replaces portable fire extinguishers for businesses in Ireland. We are the data controller for the details described below.

2. Using this website

The information on this site is provided in good faith to help you understand fire extinguisher servicing and the requirements of I.S. 291. It is general guidance, not a substitute for a site-specific fire risk assessment or professional advice about your premises.

3. Booking requests

  • Sending a booking request through this site is a request, not a confirmed appointment. A visit is only confirmed once we contact you by phone or email to agree the date, time and scope.
  • No payment is taken online. Pricing is agreed with you before the visit, based on the number and type of extinguishers on site.
  • You can cancel or change a request at any time before it is confirmed, at no cost. Once confirmed, please give us as much notice as you can if plans change.
  • We may decline or reschedule a request — for example if the date is unavailable, we can't reach the site on that day, or the work requested isn't something we do.

4. Our service

  • Servicing is carried out to I.S. 291 by a competent person. Every serviced unit receives a dated service label and you receive a service report.
  • Where an extinguisher cannot be brought back to standard, we will tell you and, with your agreement, replace it. We will not condemn a unit without explaining why.
  • Our responsibility covers the work we carry out on the day. It does not extend to extinguishers we have not serviced, to units damaged, moved or discharged after our visit, or to premises-wide fire safety beyond portable extinguishers. Overall responsibility for fire safety at the premises stays with the owner or occupier.
  • Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

5. Reviews

  • Reviews posted on this site are public and appear immediately. They are not checked before they appear, so we cannot guarantee that every review comes from a genuine customer — please only review a visit you actually received.
  • Do not include personal information about other people, abusive language, or anything unlawful. We may hide or remove reviews that break these terms, are not genuine, or are off-topic. We do not edit the wording of reviews we keep.
  • By posting, you give us permission to display your review (with the name and business you provide) on this site.

6. Privacy — what we keep and why

We collect only what we need to do the job. The legal basis is performance of a contract (or taking steps before one) for booking requests, and our legitimate interest in running the site and showing customer feedback for reviews and site protection.

  • Booking requests: your name, phone number, email address (if given), business or site name, the date and slot requested, and any notes you add. We use these solely to contact you about the visit and to carry out the work. Each request is delivered to our business email through FormSubmit (formsubmit.co), an email relay service, and lands in a Google (Gmail) mailbox — both act as processors on our behalf.
  • Reviews: the name, business name and review text you choose to post, which are displayed publicly.
  • Technical: this site keeps no analytics or advertising trackers, sets no tracking cookies, and loads all of its fonts and images from our own server — no other company sees your visit. Basic connection details (such as your IP address) are held in memory only briefly to protect the site from abuse, and are not stored.

We keep booking details for as long as needed to provide and record the service, including the service history your insurer may ask for — normally up to six years after the last visit. We do not sell your details or share them with anyone beyond the processors named above. You have the right to ask us for a copy of the details we hold about you, to have them corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use them, and to receive them in a portable format. Contact us using the details in section 1 and we'll act promptly. If you are unhappy with how we handle your details you can complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).

7. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page is the one that applies, and the date below tells you when it was last changed.

8. Law

These terms are governed by the law of Ireland.
